Screen-grabs

Screen-grabs of the pages we updated today!! They don't really do it justice without the rollover links however!!

Reactable musical interface

Reactable musical instrument interface

Quite interesting! Not amazingly relevant to our project but something to look at when considering user interaction, especially with music.

Tape Page

Here is a few screen-grabs of what i've done so far for the tape page. It also has the change in rollover images, and clickable links!

I decided to go for the different perspectives idea when it came down to the illustration. Thought it worked quite nicely!

Buttons!

Ok....here's a quick screen-grab. I've managed to create the buttons individually, which could be used to navigate through the pages! I think i'll have to show you tomorrow to get the full potential of it!

animation

hey, that sounds really good. i've tried out some stuff on flash and made this simple animation, just from a rough sketch. but it could work quite well if we did it with our final illustrations.

Music

I've managed to work out how to put music onto the pages, and how to loop them!

I've also made an 80s track, kitted out with radio sounds and everything, for the tape page! haha

the bottom one is a bit random, but just thought it was a cool ipod cover.
I think doing it with a paper background could look good, maybe like the back of a blank tape so it still relates?

Hey all the stuff you guys have got so far looks really good. Found some info on how cds work. I think it might be quite hard to represent it in an exciting way but i found some diagrams that maybe we could use the basic ideas from

Illustrations

Yes they are what we are looking for I think.
The way there is gaps between the drawn lines and the colour is good, its not whole, which is what we are looking for.
What do you think about having paper in the background?

Illustrations

A couple of illustrations I knocked together today. Is this the sort of style we were thinking?

Hand-drawn style

This website is what I had in mind for the movement of the circles with the hand drawn lines moving around a bit as they rotate giving it a 'squiggly' feel, in this case with the robot and the floor:

Also I was thinking the background of our website could have creases or lines to show that it is on paper like its a book, I dont feel it would ruin the movement we have thought about:

That drugs website is so good!

Also....here is that really cool website I was talking about today! Hopefully the link should work, so just click on the image below!

Microsoft Surface

This is what I was talking about today! Microsoft surface looks amazing and is pretty much the next step in technology. It uses a completely interactive interface with alot of the functions being similar to that of the new apple technology in the iPhone etc!

Here is a video of the possiblities of surface:

Tape websites

A couple of websites on how an old tape works:

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/cassette1.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_audio_cassette

ipod

This website seems pretty good for information on ipods.
It works similarly to a CD but it compresses files to store more information, thats it but I think this information is key so we can put different thing for CD and ipod, the others are different enough anyway. The link is:

www.tech-faq.com/how-does-an-ipod-work.shtml

I just have to say that HowStuffWorks is actually rubbish for information!

Tapes.

I found some images of tapes we could base our 'drawing' on.

I also like the idea of having the reel of tape inside the cassette being interactive in some way, or maybe the video we do could involve the reel spewing out of the cassette. Don't know how capable of this we are but just an idea.

I like the idea of this continuing on with the theme of the hand drawn image appearing gradually, maybe it could reveal the description or spell something like 'cassette tape' (original!).

Another way we could do it is having the reel of tape transfer from one side to the other, how relevant this is I don't know.

This is basically what I think we all had in mind earlier.

Ours will be better obviously!!

Circles?

I was thinking we could base the content of the site around circles, as this seems to be a recurring theme throughout the design of music technology.
Even looking at mini-discs, turntables, the design of headphones too?

Preliminary Ideas

Might be quite an interesting thing to do... In the electronics section of How Stuff Works:

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/nightvision.htm

or maybe even:

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/cassette1.htm

Might generate some interesting visuals?
